There's nothing I love more than some sun kissed skin but unfortunately for me, I don't live in a country where there is actually some sun boohoooo. I am a fan of faking it, but I've had a few tan disasters in the past, especially as I had a spray tan tent in my house.... It was an accident waiting to happen.
I have naturally 'easy to tan' skin. I don't quite know what else to call it except yellow toned? I'm not fair, never burn, have lots of moles and tan easily but sometimes can look awfully pasty without a bit of fake tan or good old makeup.
With an extensive collection of tans, I'm not brave enough to say I've tried every single fake tan, but I've tried a fair few. One of the most well known tanning brands is St Tropez. Famous for its deep colour without that awful fake tan scent, here's my favourites:
St Tropez - Gradual Tan
This comes with a pump applicator and comes out as a clear moose. Usually clear tans make me a little uneasy because you can't see where it's being applied, but I can honestly say I've never had any streaks from this. It soaks into the skin really quickly and develops within a few hours. I usually apply this before bed and let it develop over night but sometimes I have applied this first thing on a morning before leaving the house because it actually smells lovely! It is an every day gradual tan so is really light and natural looking, very easy and safe for fake tan novices.
St Tropez - Instant Glow Spray
I do love this instant tan, mainly because of the colour. I have bought this in a dark, and it is very dark in that infamous St Tropez chocolate colour. I have however found this a little tricky to apply at times. It comes with a spray applicator, however the product runs really quickly and unless rubbed in quickly can leave runs down the leg. I have found this is best on top of a base tan just used to top up areas.
St Tropez Self Tan Lotion
I was quite excited to try this St Tropez as it says it's made with all natural products and came in a cute little recyled brown box. This is a really thick white cream self tan which soaks into the skin acting like a moisturiser. The cream leaves the skin lovely and soft however does have that fake tan smell so a good scrub in the shower the following day is needed. This is a natural looking fake tan and is light in colour so would be perfect for fair skin.
I received these two in a little tanning set and have had really good use of them both. I have found myself using the products along side other fake tans and they really do help the tan fade lovely, avoiding that awful scaley crocodile skin effect. They are basically a before and after tanning product that help the tan last longer and fade evenly and are very effective.
All products can be purchased from
Or can be picked up at Boots and most other drug stores
